Vision Boards

Strap yourselves in cause we’re going to jump straight into today’s blog post: Vision Boards!

You’ve heard about Vision Boards but, what are they?

Vision boards can be many things but generally, they are the visual representation of the goals that you are currently working on.

They act as a visual reminder of your goals without having to necessarily go back and review what your goals are.

Anyone can make vision boards. If it doesn’t work for you and you don’t find it useful, don’t make them.

I only recently have found use in making vision boards, and also find them fun to make. But, I didn’t always feel this way. Vision boards are not something I have done throughout my life. I imagine my use for them will wax and wane depending on how I am feeling and where I am in life.

When? I like to make vision boards at the start of each month for the current goals I have for that month.

How? Vision boards can be physical or digital. I personally prefer digital so that I don’t have to deal with glue and sticky hands, and cutting up magazines. But, you do you!

PROMPT: Identify how you want to feel

After doing a monthly goal-setting session, I will begin to make my vision board for the new month.

I like to pair my vision board with adjectives and phrases that I want to feel/incorporate for the next month. I usually start with the writing part first as that is easier for me to come up with, then I will search for pictures that act as a representation of what I have written.

A few prompts to get started:

  1. How do I want to feel at the beginning, middle, and end of the month?

  2. What would have made this last month excellent that I was maybe missing?

  3. What do I need physically, emotionally, and spiritually?

  4. How do I want to show up within this month?

PROMPT: Search for pictures that represent how you want to feel and what you want to accomplish

Search for pictures that represent your identified feelings. Since this is for personal use only, I would suggest using Pinterest or a similar app. I usually will type out the words I have come up with to see what pops up, but if I have a specific image in my mind for the feeling I want, I will just search for that specific image.

Generally, I pick between 4 pictures and 2 quotes to 10 pictures/quotes, but it really depends on you and how you want your vision board to look.

Types of items you could include:

  • specific photos (husky puppy in a training class)

  • general photos (ocean water)

  • background photos for texture (clouds)

  • Quotes and phrases

LAYER & HAVE FUN

Here’s the fun part: Creating the Vision Board! This is where you will layer all the images and quotes you have compiled into one place: the Vision Board.

Lastly, I will usually set my planner to be on my vision board before I close it. That way, when I reopen it, the Vision Board is the first thing I see and it can remind me of my goals for that month.

There you have it, an introduction to Vision Boards! Let us know if you’ve made a Vision Board before or if we left anything out!

Wishing you oodles of joy!
